I'm just used to more.
More neighborly visits.
More hangin' in the streets.
More kids playing together, having fun.
More trick or treating.
More PEOPLE HOME to actually answer the doors!
We went to our church festival for an hour or so and then headed home to "knock knock" (as Georgia called it). We have a HUGE long street in front of our house, nice neighborhood, safe, etc.
We probably walked by 30 houses or so...and maybe 9 of them had people home. Some houses even had porch lights on, but DIDN'T answer the door (can you feel my frustration with that?).
The kids still had fun...but they were also a bit bummed.
The street was just dark and boring.
There were also A LOT of high schoolers out running up to doors with pillowcases and EMPTYING the bowls of candy that were out for trick or treaters. That's just NOT COOL. I mean really, it was only 8:15...it's not like they waited until 10 and all little ones were in bed...
how rude.
SO... NEXT YEAR...
We're planning a party.
A good ole' fashioned Louisiana-style Halloween party.
The neighborhood kind.
(NOT creepy vodoo stuff or anything like that..not THAT kind of "Louisiana style").
We'll have the house set up for people we know. Food. Drinks. Decorations. Boobin' for apples, ETC. A laid back, walk around and hang out, kinda' party.
The garage will be set up for the "passerbys" who can come on in and grab some goodies and say hello.
Yep.
Only 363 days to get it planned and ready.
(and if you know me, that may be how long it will take for my garage to be cleaned out enough for such an event!)
Alas, here are the kiddos in their costumes.
My adorable Dora and my oh' so handsome Human Body.
:0)
This is Dora and one of her best friends...he was Diego! How perfect!
Caleb and one of his best friends. This is when I learned how much Caleb really does love the Human Body and learning about it. He LOVES Transformers, his friend was Optimus Prime and Caleb wasn't phased by it! YEA!
Caleb's "Human Body" had the lungs, heart, stomach, some muscles, and the kidneys(on the backside). Georgia's Dora costume was just plain cute!

Hope you had fun!

They are sooo cute!!
Funny, when I think of what we did on that holiday growing up, everthing I remember was in Missouri, not Louisiana. Parties. Trick-or-treating. Costumes. Getting together with friends.
I'm glad the costumes turned out so perfect!!
