Blue Orange Green Pink Purple

A glimpse of us!

So far, so good

I'm doing it...so far. I've gotten up twice now for a morning walk/jog. I tell ya'...it's hard for me to take the step of getting dressed to go. I do a serious battle of the mind. Seems I have a STRONG voice for a thousand reasons to get back into bed. They are loud. They are smart. They have excellent reasons. I can't even tell you the reasons for the "other side" of the war. Lucky for me, I am just simply stubborn. I force myself to find some clothes and put them on. Once I am doing that, the sleeping voice subsides (and goes back to sleep), while the jogging side gets louder and louder.
It's not an impressive excursion by any means really. I don't have any idea the distance of it. BUT that will come with time.
I went Sat. morning and that evening I also did a pilates video. It's a combination of reg. pilates mat exercises and a session of cardio pilates. Not too bad. There are things on there that I can NOT do.. some of the mat exercises. The cardio wasn't a problem at all but the mat excercises...how does she do that? I look at that woman with complete awe. I tell myself "Aaaahhhh, she's young. She's probably in her early 20s or something..." I doubt she is though. Maybe one day I'll be able to lay flat on my back with my arms stretched overhead and be able to "roll my body up one vertebrae at a time into a sitting position". (if you can do this, don't share ... unless you're younger than 25) ;0) With a little swing in my arms and sort of a throwing myself up and forward, I can do it without using my hands BUT it isn't pretty. It is NOT one vertebrae at a time. When Bianca came over last night (she gave me the video), she can do it. BUT heck, she's 22. :0)
It's a goal.
I think.
We'll see.
If not, I always have the age excuse.
(just go with it friends, let me have an excuse)

For now...thank you to my Sista, a friend K, my BW group, and Bianca...they have all motivated me to get off my bum and go.
I pray it lasts. That my stubbornness continues to win the battle.

Is it the age + annoying personality flaw?

I notice lately that I take a lot more photos of Caleb than I do Georgia. I know I do. (see my recent WW post and you'll notice too!). Here's the thing...she's at that HORRIBLE stage where you are all prepped and ready, anticipating a fabulous photo, and you ask her to smile. She gives me this HORRIBLE "smile" saying "cheese" and it looks like...well...more like a snarl than a smile. No matter what I do, IF she looks at the camera, it's the snarl. Notice the "IF" in that last sentence? That's the other problem....she blatantly ignores me, often. She doesn't do it on normal terms (she has already picked up on things that happen if you ignore ...don't obey...Momma) but if there is a camera in front of my face...then it's like she thinks I'm not there.
So frustrating.

Here is my example from today.
I'm really enjoying taking photos from different angles and I love taking them from right over their heads, having them look up into the camera. Now ignore the coloring (it's taken with a flash which never gives great quality) and ignore the cluttered background...we're just practicing angles here...

Gab's is pretty good...
She at least looks at me and has somewhat of a grin... and I just love her eyes too.

Caleb's...well, I love it of course. He has gotten wonderful with taking photos lately and does exactly what I ask...
And then there is my baby girl.... this is all she gives me, all the time.

She really is adorable...in real life....in person...but this..this "CHEESE!" of hers, it's just plain scary at times.
I remember Caleb going through a phase. He went through a few...his first few years of life he would always look at the camera...and give this deadpan look. Just the "uhhhhh" look EVERY time. Seriously, all of his photos from 7 months to 3 years old...all look the same, exact same expression. That was pretty annoying. This snarl from Georgia though, I sure hope it goes away pretty soon.

Part of the package

When I babysit or watch other people's kiddos I always find myself breakin' out the camera and taking some photos. I love taking them and sometimes it's just fun to have new subjects. Either the parents are there and know what I'm doing or they come back later and I get to say "umm...well, while _____ was here today I probably took like 50 pics of him. I just couldn't help myself!" So.. to those that have grinned in acceptance of my idea of fun...here are a few I worked on tonight for a little entertainment.
:0)

Apparently I may be finished having babies but I'm not finished wanting to take photos of them!
:0)
p.s. Isn't it funny that the first two babies are obviously not the same babies, they live in different states, I saw them a few weeks apart...yet they have on the same onesie when I got to see them!
p.s.s. The last one is of my newest nephew and the shirt says "baby brother" not "baby broth" ;0)

Hairsprayed out!

I've seen some other blogs lately that are like flash backs to past years. Very funny too. Seeing the big hair, the Madonna-inspired clothes, acid-washed jeans, ETC...definitely lead me to think back to those days. So much of me has changed since then (PTL for that!) but one thing that kept jumping out at me was the hair! I don't think I even OWN hairspray now. I NEVER use it. Well, I never really take the time to do anything with my hair at all so hairspray just seems silly. Ya' think the CANS of White Rain that I used back then just somehow filled my tolerance for hairspray for years to come?

OH YEAH BABY! Gotta love it!

Reason #3

POPSICLES!

We love em'. Sort of a tradition too that once summer hits (temperature wise anyway), then we have one almost every evening. We get together with our friends a couple houses down at least 3 or 4 evenings a week and the fun starts with the popsicles. Each year I go on the hunt for a "good for you" popsicle. That means: no added sugar, no added coloring, no artificial sweeteners.

Tough to find. Very tough. This year, after hitting 3 different stores...we decided to make our own.

I've tried those plastic little things for making popsicles... it never worked well. Then a friend shared with me the secret of paper Dixie cups.
VOILA! It worked. For only $1.98 for 200 cups, even cheaper popsicle sticks... a few bags of frozen fruit...and we have our own popsicles. The Brady way.

So far we've made strawberry and mango. The kids love them! Works perfect, fairly cheap, healthy, AND yummy...can't beat it!

Every Minute of Every Day...

About Me

cajungal01
Here I am finding myself getting closer to "middle aged" and loving life more and more. I think I learn more about myself each year and while some things I find a bit discomforting (and will work on), others I am proud of. I love how the Lord works in all of us constantly and as we each pass through various seasons of our lives he sends different people... some as mentors, some to mentor, and some to walk parallel with. I look forward to each day and what He brings with it.
