Blue Orange Green Pink Purple

A glimpse of us!

Our Baby Girl's Hand

Ok...so most of you know that our Baby Girl hurt her hand this past week.

For those that don't know...
here's the story:
(for those that know the story and have been asking for photos, you have permission to scroll down)

I decided to finally get off my behind and start using my treadmill.
It has been in my living room for a year now untouched.
I came home from work and did my WiiFit and then had a little meeting with the kiddos. I explained that the treadmill is not a toy. That it can hurt you. It can "break your bones" or burn your skin. That they DO NOT TOUCH the treadmill.

hmmm...seemed simple enough.

So I put a movie on in the playroom for the kids and I started walking/jogging.
The kids would come by on occasion and I would remind them "DON'T TOUCH!"
Caleb went to play outside.
Georgia came up behind me once.
In a matter of 3 seconds, she sat down directly behind me and stuck her hand in the back of the treadmill.

Right here.

I was already aware that she had come up behind me so I looked back over my shoulder and saw her. She hadn't even made a noise...yet.
I yanked the emergency stop chord.
Jumped off and grabbed her right as she was saying "AAhhhhh.??...!!!"
Her hand wasn't really stuck but she wasn't pulling it out on her own either.

I held her in my lap and assured her she was fine.
She looked fine.
I didn't see anything too wrong.
At first look.

Then I walked her into the kitchen to get a better look.
Her fingers were getting red and I noticed a bunch of stuff at the base of her fingers.
Skin.
All bunched up where it wasn't supposed to be.
Yuck.
Ouch.
Oh goodness.

I quickly went to my neighbor's house (Jen is the best!) who just had something similar happen to her niece.
I asked (with a slightly panicked look on my face). "Ummm....what did they do when J got those burns from the treadmill?????"
She replied "neosporin and gauze....but let me look."
then she said "Ok, well, how about I go watch Caleb and M while you go ahead and get her to the emergency room."

We went home to tell Caleb and M where we were going, that Jen was staying with them. Then we called Brandon to fill him in a bit.

Off we went.
Brandon met us there shortly after we were brought back to a bed.
Georgia was a real trooper.
She was so brave.
Brandon was fabulous at reassuring both of us.

The nurses came.
One doctor came.
Then another doctor (pedi) came in.
They cleaned it and wrapped it up.
We were given the name of a Pedi hand surgeon to go see within two days, no later.

We did.
It went great.
We have to soak it in soapy water each day for 15 minutes and then slather some of her prescription goop (thicker than any lotion or ointment I've seen) all over (we literally just plop it on by the spoonful .... that's what the doc did so that's what we do) and then rewrap it in reg. gauze and then the cling gauze.
We'll do this for 10 days or more..until the deeper layers of skin start growing back.
Then they will splint it for as long as it takes for all the skin to grow back.
If her fingers aren't kept straight while it heals then she won't grow enough skin and then she wouldn't be able to straighten her fingers... making her then need skin grafts and surgery. (at that point in the directions was when the surgeon said "That's why you are seeing me now...to avoid surgery in her future."
After the splint comes off then we'll see how the healing went and if she'll need any further help.
We'll be praying not.

She wasn't real thrilled at having her photo taken during the ordeal. That's why the following photos weren't taken until a few days later.

The two photos above were taken Friday and the one below was taken Saturday.I can already see where some skin is starting to heal and grow back together! YEA!

She has done wonderfully.
She is already moving her fingers while they soak (the first couple of times we were just thankful she put them in the water at all!).
I "hide" some of her toy animals under the bubbles and she and I find them (she has to use her hand/fingers to move the water/bubbles out of the way) and we take turns picking them up,
she is only allowed to use her "bobo hand".

She really is doing great!
We are super proud of her.

:0)
Thank you for all of the prayers.
We continue to pray for complete and quick healing.

It already looks 100x better than it looked in the beginning.
The way it looked last Monday compared to these photos from Friday and Saturday... it's an amazing difference! Praise God!
I think the prescription goop must be a wonder ointment!
Something I want to always have around! :0)

She likes her pink "big band aid" a lot! :0)

Our latest glitch is now she has bobos on her "good hand". We went to a birthday party last night and had a blast. Right towards the end though, a guest's chihuaha decided it didn't really want kids around anymore. Georgia didn't have the dog cornered or anything, as a matter of fact they (some kids and the dog) were all by the back door. All I know is Georgia started screaming and running to me.
The darn dog bit Georgia.
Now, it's a chihuahua so don't go visualizing a bite like a pitt bull would leave.
BUT
in Georgia's eyes...she now has two "bobo hands".
She walks around now with both hands held up.
She'll be fine and by tomorrow she'll probably forget all about her new bobos.
In comparison, these bite marks are nothin'.

I'm not quite sure if the dog had it's legs up on Georgia's arm too and that's where the deeper cuts came from (the one on her hand was bleeding and the one under the band-aid)...it's obvious where the teeth were and a chihuahua's mouth isn't that big! The four marks where the canine teeth were broke the skin but I'm glad chihuahua's teeth are small. :0)

For having Irish blood in her, Georgia doesn't seem to have much luck!
:0)

P.S....the treadmill is going back OUT OF MY HOUSE. Already have a friend that has dibs on it. :0)

Fabulous Photos Friday

All of these photos come from one FABULOUS event from last weekend... my niece's birthday party.
She chose a Ball Party.
Not the kind of Ball Party Caleb would want.
The kind of Ball Party a little princess girl would want.
Dancing.
Fancy dresses.
Tiaras.
Dance cards.
Fancy cakes and punch.

It was AMAZING!

I loved everything about the party (my Sis is just great at parties!)
BUT

there was one thing that was my favorite.
See, I'm a little biased and see the world through my Momma glasses.

My little girl FINALLY wanted to wear her "twirly skirt" that she got for Christmas.
She's never wanted to wear it before.

Oh....it was too darn precious.

But how precious she was wasn't my favorite part.

The part I will NEVER FORGET was how darn cute my TWO KIDS were when they were dancing together!
They really danced!
AND
enjoyed it!
They even continued for a few songs.
Complete with Georgia being twirled by her big brother.

I fell in love.
(again)

Here are some photos for my girl before leaving and then at the party
(with her fabulous dance partner!).
:0)

If I could post photos...I would!

This is a super quick post.

Literally, I RAN to the computer because I needed to share this with everyone real quick.

My hubs AND my dog are taking a shower.

yes, you heard me right.

See...we got a lot of rain today and my dog was outside for it.

That means MUD.

and LOTS of it!

if you have never seen my dog in real life...he's huge. REALLY huge.
and VERY HAIRY.

He's a super tall German Shepherd.

And so I sent my hubs out to clean him off tonight so we could bring him in.

I suddenly hear "turn on the shower".

UMMM????....

"ok???"

And so there they are now...
in the stand up shower
together.

Oh...and ours is just a standard size (small) stand up shower.

FUNNY!

Seriously, if I could take photos...

I would.

I won this dress for Georgia!

Oh my goodness! i am so excited! I check this site: "Give Away Today" almost daily. It's really neat and I think it's fabulous (even when i don't win!)
BUT
I won a dress for Georgia.
This is the one I picked out.

Isn't it precious?
She is going to look so adorable in this dress (even with her bandaged hand!)

Bathrooms revealed!

Ok, I am FINALLY ready to post the before and AFTER photos of my bathrooms!
I started working on the bathrooms over the Thanksgiving break. I (umm...really it was my fantastic MIL and hubs) painted the master bathroom. They did the walls, I came back later and sanded and painted the cabinets, put in the hardware. Then over the Christmas break my Pops came and installed the new faucets, I hung up all of the new stuff/decor for the walls. :0)
Then sometime in Feb. I painted the guest bathroom and finally over our spring break last week, I did the cabinets in there!

ALL FINISHED!
I can't get over the transformation!

Neither of my bathrooms really had a look or style at all. Just a hodge-podge of stuff. NOW, they look classy and...well, fabulous (IMO of course!)

I'll break down the costs as best as I can because I still sit back in joyful shock over how very much can be done for such a little cost (at least for me!)

Master bathroom:
Paint (my MIL bought the paint and supplies..:0))
cabinet paint ($24...I think..at the most)
new rugs ($24 and $14)
new stuff for the walls (this is hard for me to remember because I got them all at Hobby Lobby 50% off over a YEAR AGO!...I knew one day I would want the fleur de'lis in my bathroom...so maybe....$80) Some of the stuff I've had forever and spray painted black....like the basket over the door that has fake greenery in it.
hardware for cabinets ($15)
So for ME....around $145!

when I took this photo I thought we were only going to paint the walls so I didn't care about getting a shot with the cabinets in it

then I came back and took this shot. It's after the walls had been painted but before the cabinets.

This just does NOT do the bathroom justice. The walls are a tan/brown "paperbag" and the one wall (reflected in the mirror) is a deep red. :0)

this was just a fun shot to show where the two colors meet and my nifty fake plant holder.

Guest bathroom:
Paint ($14....just the green wall paint, I had plenty of cabinet paint and supplies)
shower curtain and new decorative towel ($40 BUT I used a Christmas gift card for that)
hardware for cabinets ($15)
all of the decorations came from other places in my home. :0)
So for ME....$29!

I JUST LOOOOOVE them! I want to live in my bathrooms. They are the ONLY rooms in my house completely finished and I can't wait to do more now! :0)

Works for Me Wednesday!

My WiiFit finally works for me!
It's not that the WiiFit was having any problems, I was.
Just wasn't motivated.
I had gotten annoyed with only being able to work out on it for 3 minutes max.
Then have to wait through seeing your score, rank, ETC. AND then click "retry" or "cancel".
Very annoying.

I've finally worked through some of that and "opened" some of the other exercises.
While I'm still annoyed that I can only do some things for short amounts until I EARN more time, it is finally working for me!
I do step aerobics for 20 minutes, hula hoop for 6 minutes (that's the most workout), and then do one or two yogas.
Ending with a total of at least 30 minutes.
EVERY DAY so far this week!
YEA!

I'm so glad I'm finally off my bum and doin' it.
:0)

Photo Friday...just a few

I have just a few photos I wanted to share. The first two are of Georgia with her favorite find on a recent trip to Michael's. It was a box of all of these ITTY-BITTY chicks. Super cute and she LOVED them. In one picture she is kissing all of them. :0) As much as she loved them and played with them A LOT for two days..two days is all they lasted. They were just little balls of fluffed and it didn't take long for the eyes/head to fall off, feet to fall off, etc.
Then the vacuum brought them to their resting place.

The other photo is her in one of my favorite GROCERY STORE finds! This adorable dress was at our nearby HEB (that's a grocery store here in TX) and it was only $8. I loved it, she loved it, and everyone that saw her in it loved it. It doesn't feel like a thin, stiff cheap dress either. It's soft and the bottom half is even lined on the inside! Honestly though, even if it falls apart after a couple of washes, it was worth it because I LOVE it! :0)

Every Minute of Every Day...

About Me

cajungal01
Here I am finding myself getting closer to "middle aged" and loving life more and more. I think I learn more about myself each year and while some things I find a bit discomforting (and will work on), others I am proud of. I love how the Lord works in all of us constantly and as we each pass through various seasons of our lives he sends different people... some as mentors, some to mentor, and some to walk parallel with. I look forward to each day and what He brings with it.
