Blue Orange Green Pink Purple

A glimpse of us!

Honky Tonk Badonkadonk

Ok..so if you haven't heard this song then you really should. It's the country version of "Baby Got Back" (or at least that's how we describe it) and I LOVE it! There's more to me lovin' it than just the fabulous lyrics (how can you not laugh at "We hate to see her go but love to watch her leave..." and "whoooo weeee shut my mouth, slap your gran-ma") because it was HOW I was introduced to this song that makes it even better for me. If you've never seen my mom dance, you've missed quite a treat. She LOVES to dance and when she dances...she's not the ballroom type. She SHAKES it. Ohhh yeah, shakes it all right. Her hands in fists, her lips pressed together in concentration, her shoulders bouncing, and her booty shakin'!
Last March when my mom, my sis, and I loaded up in the car to make the drive to Galveston to embark on our cruise vacation, we all had different ideas of what music to listen to on the drive. My mom was SUPER excited about her new "favorite song". She had the cd in hand and was telling us how great it was. With sparkles of excitement and anticipation in her eyes, she said "OK...here it comes and you have to listen". Then she got into her dancing mode (the fists, the lips, the shoulders...) as the music started. Mindy and I had NO IDEA what was coming and man were we in for a shock! Oh it was a RIOT! Mindy and I couldn't believe our ears (although our eyes had long ago grown accustomed to Mom's "dancing") as we heard Trace Adkins energetically singing about a woman's "honky tonk badonkadonk". It is truly a piece of work. Oh, if you could have been in the car with us...my mom just dancin' away and Mindy and I there, in shock and disbelief yet laughing full force. Mindy knew I surely had loved it, as she has always known my love for the classic "Baby Got Back"...so this was like the best of two very different worlds...Sir Mix A Lot had gone country! We laughed as we listened to it a few more times until my Sis had had her fill with it and we all sat back to savor and digest the moment.

Today when I went to see my mom (as I am now doing every Wed.) I dug out that CD.... knowing it had to be somewhere. I hadn't heard the song since that fabulous trip and I was itchin' to! At last I found it and was super excited. I gave mom a sort of mischievous look and said "MOOOOOM, I have a song to play for you". I put it on and turned it up. Then I took her by the hands and stood her up to "dance" with me as I shook my booty enough for the both of us. I like to think she really enjoyed this break in her day and when I sat her back down, she gave me her standard response for good...a thumbs up. I hope that deep down, my mom was shakin' her booty too. :0)
I took the cd with me so I could enjoy it on the way home... And I immediately called my sis. I very seriously said "Hey, do you have a minute or two? I wanted to share something with you from today." She sounded all attentive, interested, and concerned at once as she replied "Oh..YES. Ok." I said "All right but you have to listen good." And then I held out the phone as my stereo blared the song for her....me singing at the top of my longs as background vocals. I'm not sure of my Sis's immediate response (since I obviously couldn't hear her if she did say anything), but I certainly enjoyed the shared moment with her. After a few fabulous lines from Trace, I got back on the phone...she giggled and I'm sure she was shaking her head at me. She asked if it was on the radio and I gladly told her that I snagged it from mom's house so I could make copies...one for me, and one for her of course. I don't think it's one that my sis will play cranked up at her house daily but I have no doubt that when nobody's there...when she has a moment to herself... she'll be stealing a moment to go listen...and grin as she shakes her head at my mom and I.

My Sista' said it's time

For a new blog that is. She's harassing me that it's been since Monday...I better stay on top of this! :0) I like blogging though, it is a nice little break....coming here and "chatting"..I've always been ok with one-sided conversations. I am my best audience after all. :0)
Hmmm...well I'm in a pretty sassy mood right now. Got a fire lit under my booty and although it is NOT compelling me to get any work done around my house, I feel like I'm full of electricity and should go...I don't know...do some karaoke or something! I would say I'd like to debate but I don't feel like really thinking too much so it would have to be a really low-intelligence-level debate. I feel like getting on my soapbox about something...hmmm....not really sure what though, I don't tend to have a lot of those soapboxes around....anyone have any suggestions?
Let's not go political...that's what got me in this place to begin with (and NO, I'm not divulging any more info than that), I'm sure I could find some people out there though that would love to play conversational ping pong about spanking our kids. Hmm...that's always a fun one. Nah, it would just make me want to put them over my knee. ;0)
So instead, I think I'll stick my MP3 player headphones in my ears and jam to some LOUD music while my kids sleep...DARN...I don't have any music downloaded into my MP3 player! That actually sounds like a fabulous idea too but radio wouldn't be the same..they talk too much and it would be a buzz killer! Ok, so can't do that, can't leave the house (kids sleeping remember?), can't make much noise (yeah, you're catching on)...so what to do, what to do with all this energy????
For now I guess I will do my best to release some here simply typing to you....
Went to the park today with the three amigos. They had a blast, it was beautiful, it was well needed and worked perfectly. Caleb made friends instantly. He first drew an innocent sweet girl into his web and she was adorable. She played with him for a while on the playground equipment but was not real excited about the constant barrage of "wanna play get you?", she was not interested in constantly running around. So his next victim was great...an adorable four year old boy who was excited about playing "get you". This time though...Caleb had met his match and he was quickly outmatched! This boy was fast! Unlike Caleb, this boy had just arrived at the playground and Caleb's hour already under his belt was quickly starting to show as he and Tyson ran and ran. Caleb had a blast though and was luckily blind to how quickly Tyson could catch him while it took him much longer (if he indeed did succeed at all!) to catch Tyson. They played for quite a while. Then much to my satisfaction, Tyson cheerfully said "Wanna play Hide and Seek?" (I was starting to feel for my son who was not as fast as I had grown to believe). Caleb quickly and cheerfully replied "YES! SURE!" So off Tyson ran to hide while Caleb counted. Caleb then turned around to look for Tyson and after a mere 3 seconds, Tyson shouted "I'm over here!" Now came the interesting part...Caleb has never played hide and seek where the person "wins" by making it back to a "base". We have never done this....in our house you chase the person back to the sofa and upon meeting at the sofa, you tickle them and then switch turns. He didn't know that you could "win" Hide and Seek. Luckily it didn't bother him too much and I think the whole point Tyson was trying to make, escaped Caleb. Caleb was just happy to go hide. Caleb's tactic was much different though. As Tyson had really been finding another way to get chased and outrun Caleb, Caleb is all about the hiding. He really hid and Tyson couldn't find him. After quite a few minutes, Caleb started "whistling" (which is a really high pitched "oooooo oooooo") to help Tyson find him...giving himself enough time though to make it back to base. It was great fun to watch the interaction...really cute. :0) BTW, while all of this was going on, the girls were beyond happy chasing birds around the pavilion area. I don't know that I have ever heard Gab laugh that much...that loud or that long! They found joy in that simple activity for over 30 minutes!
maybe that's what I should go do with this energy....chase some birds, all the while...laughing my heart out! That'd be quite a sight huh? :0) (must say...I would attempt it if my backyard was suited for that sort of thing...which it's not...too small and my horse would think it's some game and pounce on me!)

For the rest of the day.... we're gonna probably lay low. Hubby gets off of work early (hopefully) so we'll hang here and probably take a family walk this evening. If I can stay awake later tonight, he and I have another movie to watch... "War" I think? Jet Li and Jason Statham. This is what we call an "equal opportunity" movie. Has a character that both of us like, whether either of us like both of them...Brandon likes Jet Li and I like Jason Statham. (If you are familiar with Jason Statham then you may know why I like him....EYE CANDY baby!) The other night we watched "The Kingdom"...really good movie too. I wasn't real excited about it so I was happily and pleasantly surprised. That had a few characters we both liked, myself most excited about Jennifer Garner and Brandon is a fan of ...well..any war movie really. :0)

What about you? Seen any good movies lately? What about books? I need a new book to read... any suggestions? Right now I am "reading" the photography book Understanding Exposure (the revised edition) and although interesting...certainly isn't an easy read and will take a LOT of time.

ok..Caleb's already up so my time here is through!

so UNFAIR!

WHAT am I supposed to do with this???????

"Season Seven, also known as Day 7, of the television series 24 was scheduled to premiere on Sunday, January 13, 2008, but due to the WGA strike, it has been delayed indefinitely "to ensure that Day 7 can air uninterrupted, in its entirety."

don't they realize the importance of this? Don't they know that we've already waited 8 months...?

I just don't know what to do with this!!!!

More, Tigers, and Evan

Interesting title don't ya' think? Did it grab your attention? It is a good glimpse at the random things I'd like to "chat" about today, things that caught and held my attention yesterday or are on my mind today (or both!). All very different but since they have a place in my brain, why not put them in yours, if only for a second? :0)
Yesterday morning at church we sang a new song. A song actually written by a member of our pastor's family (he didn't elaborate any more than that). I don't remember exactly how it goes except for the chorus....."More more more, more more more, I want more, I want more, more of you Lord". It was a very catchy song, fun to sing, and also hit a place with me. As we leave the holidays behind us...a time when we were surrounding ourselves with more things than any of us (or our kids) probably need, eating more food than we probably should (or at least more smores than I should), and just consumed in a society of MORE OF EVERYTHING...this song made me think about what it is that I TRULY want more of. I want more of Him. More of Him in myself, more of Him in my marriage, more of Him in my daily routine and activities. I want more of Him so I am better prepared for this year that lays ahead and all that it will hold. More of Him so I can make better choices, better witness to others, and better teach my kids of Him. So basically, more of Him means a better everything for me. Most importantly, deep down in my gut and in my heart... I just need more of Him to fill the empty voids. So I am inspired and excited about finding more of Him. Hopefully having more of Him in me will just project more of Him to others. :0)
Tigers...well this is on my mind for today of course. A much lighter note....GEAUX TIGERS! I was saddened in church yesterday when my pastor made a comment about tonight's game, just that the championships are today. I of course hollered out "Go LSU!" He said "REALLY? REALLY?" I then replied "Well YEA, you know where I'm from!" He said "Really? I didn't think anyone around here would care!" Oh how very very sad! Indeed....NOT CARE? GEAUUUUUX TIGERS!
and now to my last point of interest...Evan. "Evan Almighty" that is. Have you seen it? I was SO pleasantly surprised by this movie. I thought it was going to be lame, silly, and sort of a joke about God and the Bible. It's wasn't! Not at all! Now, I didn't see much of "Bruce Almighty" because I'm not a huge Jim Carrey fan and I didn't really like the idea of him using the powers of God to change his wife's boob size...just annoying. So I was hesitant with this movie. BUT... it was really cute! I love how it brought up praying for things...how God delivers on those prayers. I've said for years..."be careful praying for patience because God will give you situations to gain patience!" That's exactly what he said in the movie and it was very well done. God doesn't just suddenly fill your heart with more patience or love....he gives you opportunities for those things. FABULOUS! I really liked all of the people in this movie too....gotta love the mom in Gilmore girls and the black lady that is stinkin' hysterical! Oh my! She's a riot (if you saw the movie "Monster in Law" (yeah...I know, fairly dorky JLo movie), she was the assistant in that one and also very funny). I think Morgan Freeman plays a fabulous God too...he's adorable and funny! When he laughed as the main character commented on HIS PLANS... too funny...such a perfect reaction from God. And the animals everywhere!...ok, if you haven't seen the movie, I really do suggest it. Very cute. :0)

That's all for now. Oh...I'm sure you saw my new slide show over there to the left. I really wish the photos could be bigger, they look better bigger...but I can't seem to get it to do that. I've been having fun with my new telephoto lens lately so these photos are a result of that. :0)

Ok...I better go and come back later. The kids haven't even had breakfast yet and it's 10:28!

Kuddos to Caleb (and more)

Gotta say... today has been the best day with Caleb in longer than I can remember or that has ever even taken place....seriously, NOT A SINGLE FIT OR FUSS today! WOWZERS! We went to Wal-Mart, he was fabulous, came home and played outside, fabulous again (didn't even have to remind him not to throw sand!), took a nap with me (added Bonus!), and has been fabulous all evening! He's sharing with his sister, he's asking for things politely AND then waiting nicely!, he's playing independently, etc. It's just amazing! LOVE IT! So, a huge kuddos to Caleb. Finally a glimpse that we have indeed taught him something and every once in a while it works and he remembers. Usually he doesn't...but today he did. SOOOOO nice. YEA CALEB!

We just had a visit with my aunt and uncle and it was WONDERFUL! We hung out, took the kids to Chuck E Cheese (just to play, not eat), hung out some more, and then went to the Riverwalk. When we got home we put the kids in bed and then visited some more...until almost TWO IN THE MORNING! Me, my hubby, my aunt and uncle...all just chatting until 1:45. I loved it.

ok, more later...Georgia just brought me 3 books and she has NOT learned to wait nicely. "Book" "Book" "Book".....she's just looking at me and repeating that over and over right now. If I say "Ok baby, just a minute" She just replies "Book?"

:0)

Every Minute of Every Day...

About Me

cajungal01
Here I am finding myself getting closer to "middle aged" and loving life more and more. I think I learn more about myself each year and while some things I find a bit discomforting (and will work on), others I am proud of. I love how the Lord works in all of us constantly and as we each pass through various seasons of our lives he sends different people... some as mentors, some to mentor, and some to walk parallel with. I look forward to each day and what He brings with it.
